I know I have seen some posts about this, but what is the fix for this? Mine doesn't want to take any grease. I have tried to spray WD-40 on the shaft and doesn't seem to help. The manual shows an HST neutral spring that can be adjusted to control how fast the pedal returns to neutral. Does this need to be tightened? The pedal already seems stiff and don't know if this would make it harder to push. I have to be very careful and would not want my wife on it as it is. Thanks for any suggestions.

Rossco, hold the grease gun tight against the zerk fitting it should go in, if not clean or replace fitting ,the grease gun is hard to pump on this fitting and must be held tight against it.( must be very tight tolerance!) ....

I could never get that fitting on my BX to take grease either. You're right... it is very tight tolerances. ....

Keep in mind I've never seen this particular pivot and zerk mechanism, but have you tried having somebody operate the pedal while you simultaneously try to grease the zerk?
There is a zerk on my grapple that no way, no how would it take grease. I removed the zerk and checked it and it took grease just fine in a vice. The grapple was always sitting on the ground when I greased the tractor. One day for no particular reason the grapple was a foot or so off the ground when I hit it with the grease gun and voila, this stubborn zerk took grease just fine. Apparently when on the ground the pivot pin was pushed up to the base of the zerk blocking any grease from entering. When the weight was removed it created enough clearance to grease.

We have found that on some the tolorances are so tight that we have cut or ground channels into the shaft to take more grease. ....

Just to update on this subject. I was poking around on the other site and they had a thread going about this subject. Someone had mentioned a bearing that had to be replaced in the trans. I called my dealer and the parts guy said he was aware that this could be a problem and they currently had another model in the shop, a B series I think, that he said was similar in design that they were replacing. He said they actually hadn't had many comebacks for this problem but thought the problem might be more frequent in the northern climate. He said the bearing was not in the transmission, but somewhere on the linkage. I haven't crawled underneath to look yet, but he is going to order me one. Hope this helps someone because a sticking or sluggish returning pedal isn't safe.
